Happy birthday to a stand up guy

Today's my younger brother's birthday, and what like any older sister would do to their younger sibling, I rubbed it in his face that he's another year older. "Please don't put my age up on Facebook," he pleaded on the phone when I called to wish him a happy birthday. "I won't, dude," I promised, but I also warned him not to stick any more goofy/geeky/grotesque pictures of me on his wall, so that some of our mutual friends (and ex-classmates) can see them on the site. I hate it when he does that, because J catches it before I do, and he's already rolling on the floor with laughter. "Did you see what your brother posted?"

He's another year older, but that just means there's more to add in memories. Over the years from our childhood, our teen years, and into our adult lives, we've had some awesome and funny memories. Here's just a few of my favorites:

  • Covering up for him when he was late coming home from school, because he wanted to play kissy face behind the school with his first girlfriend. Mom eventually found out because he couldn't hide the hickeys too well! HA!
  • Finding out that he was allergic to dogs when he comes into my room with a face so swollen, I thought he looked like the stay puft marshmallow man from Ghostbusters. "Um...I don't know why, but my face feels kinda funny..."
  • As a joke, I poured water on his bed one morning, and he thought he had wet his bed, so he strips his bedding and my mom catches him doing laundry. What's a 10 year old doing laundry for?
  • Getting caught peeing from the second floor window of our grandparent's house and onto the head of one of our uncles. "Wait, this isn't rain---it's piss!"
  • He got us a free meal at a restaurant because he flirted with the manager, and told HIM he was a former Chippendale dancer and escort.
  • He drove me and my best friend, my matron of honor, to the closest ATM just before my wedding ceremony started because my BFF didn't have any cash to put in the collection basket for mass. Well, she also needed it for the liquor bar at our reception.
  • Having his cigarette ashes blown back into his eyes, and watching him freak out in the passenger seat while trying to get rid of the pain is priceless. Note: car moving 90 mph on highway + flicking your cigarette's ashes out the window only to have it fly back into your eyes = a warning to stop smoking.
I've got plenty more, but these are the ones that always keep me laughing when I think about them. Do you have any favorite memories with your siblings? ;)

P.S. And happy birthday to him!

Thanks for the comments, ladies!

Andrea---you know, when I was younger, I actually wished I was an only child, because my younger brothers always got what they wanted while I didn't. And if they got in trouble, guess who got in trouble too? (Because I was the oldest, somehow I was responsible for their actions.) ;)

haha you guys are cool siblings.. those were pretty hilarious moments with your brother.. but i really had a very good laugh at #3, #5 and the last one on the list :-)
